Articles searched for the Johnston County Literary Journal
The Johnston County Heritage Center is looking for writers to contribute to its first literary and historical journal, scheduled for publication later this year.
“We are looking for compelling short stories, essays and poems that tell the rich family histories and traditions of our county people, past and present,” said Todd Johnson, Executive Director of the Center.
Writers from inside and outside the county are encouraged to contribute, but entries should relate to the people, places and events of Johnston County. “We especially encourage recent immigrants and other newcomers to submit applications that reflect their life impressions before and after arriving in Johnston County,” Johnson adds.
Dot La Motta, a Cleveland community resident of the Johnston County Writers Group, will be the editor of this project, funded in part by the Cynthia DeFord Adams Literary Fund.
There will be adult and junior (high school) divisions.
Submissions will be accepted electronically between September 1 and October 10.
For more information or to receive submission guidelines, potential writers should call Johnson at 919-934-2836, or email [email protected]
