Google offers 5 content creation tips for success


Google’s blog posted tips on how to create content that drives success. The article consisted of anecdotes from successful bloggers and YouTube creators.

None of the tips have anything to do with SEO which makes the article more interesting because online marketing success is more than just SEO.

How to post successful content

The article shed light on the real-life experiences of four successful content creators.

Advice from people with real experience is much better than opinions offered by people who repeat what they read while reading blogs.

The advice is categorized into five themes:

  1. Block time on your calendar
  2. Play on your strengths
  3. Create in batches
  4. Reduce, rework and reuse your content
  5. Prioritize value over quality

Set aside time to create

Most successful writers will recognize that setting aside specific time to write daily is the key to success. Waiting for inspiration to strike is not a viable path to content creation.

A successful content creation strategy is one where you force yourself to sit down and start creating.

Legendary music artist Nick Cave recently commented on the importance of treating the act of content creation as work, not spiritual communication with inspiration.

In his popular newsletter titled The Red Hand Files, Nick Cave observed:

“I also have an affinity with artists who treat their craft like work and don’t depend on the whims of inspiration, because I’m one of them.

Like most people who have a job, we’re just going to work. It never occurs to us not to work, there is never a time when we are not working because “we don’t feel it” or “the vibrations are not good”.

We’re just doing our hours … “

Google cited musician and lifestyle blogger Rigel Gemini who suggested setting aside one day a week for content production, noting that choosing a topic that interests you will help the content write itself.

Google posted this observation:

“Rigel Gemini recommends producing content on a weekly basis for at least one channel and keeping it fun.

“If content becomes a chore or becomes too much work, you’ll start to dread it. So just find something you can write, photograph or talk about every week and dive into it… ”

This is good advice. Focus on content topics that can get you excited, and set aside time to focus on creating that content.

Play with your strengths

The next tip comes from faith and fashion blogger Mata Leiataua. She encourages content creators to understand their style.

Everyone has a style, their own style, even when that style is a character.

Some creative artists are shy or quiet in person, but loud and brash in their writing or performance. It’s their style that they find comfortable working in that suits them.

Mata Leiataua comments:

“… No one feels inspired to create 24/7 content… is your content instant or stylish? Do you prioritize your aesthetic or your writing? “

Create in batches

This is an interesting tip, which is to sit down and create and keep creating as much as you can. Then take the results and schedule them for publication.

Beauty blogger Tiffany Williams advises:

“Creating in real time can be a lot, so creating a ton of content ahead of time helps.

This way you always have something new to post… ”

Reduce, rework and reuse your content

This next tip is about delivering your content across multiple channels.

A podcaster can turn their content into a blog post and YouTube video.

A YouTube creator can reuse their video content and turn it into an article.

YouTube and podcast creator Kevin Espiritu observes that audiences search for content based on the context of their moment.

Some may prefer a podcast during the ride. Others may prefer to read the content during lunch.

Posting to multiple channels allows a creator to build a larger audience that consumes content at different times.

Prioritize value over quality

A common stumbling block for content creation strategies is focusing on quality.

What often happens is that each article becomes a monumental undertaking focused on completeness, equating speech with quality.

Writing a Top 500 article to outperform a top-ranking publisher with a Top 50 article is a naïve approach to content creation.

When writing content, it’s always best to focus on adding value.

Lifestyle blogger Rigel Gemini advises:

“Focus on the value you provide to your readers. People will read an article that has a catchy image, but more importantly, people will come back to your knowledge and expertise.

Success with content

The common SEO strategy is to build a list of keywords with the most traffic and then create content based on that.

However, there is more to content creation than SEO keywords. Another approach is to provide meaningful content for readers.

Content can be newsworthy, it can be funny, it can break myths, and it can help readers be a better version of themselves. It’s the kind of content that keeps readers coming back for more.

Leonard Cohen observed in an interview that creation is about understanding one’s engagement with the world, doing something with it, and then finding the confidence and dignity (i.e., self-respect) in that act of creation.

While there is a place for keyword-based content, there is also an important role for content that is meaningful to you and someone else.

Leonard Cohen said:

“I am always in a relationship with one thing or another. … You’re just trying to find out about it, you’re just trying to make it right.

Once you enter it, it has no borders, it has no limits. It’s just what you do.

You just keep discovering your own heart until you can find something in which you can locate your self-respect.
