Meet HBJ’s 2021 40 Under Forty Class

Connecticut officials recently launched a new website, www.ctforme.com, which aims to attract young professionals to the state – a sign of how important this demographics are to our economic future.

There is no doubt that Connecticut needs to do more to prevent its recent college graduates and millennial workforce from moving to other parts of the country.

But in reality, Greater Hartford already has a strong cohort of young professionals who are making a difference in their respective organizations and in the community at large. And it’s important to shine a light on them in order to show others that starting and building a career here can pay off, both professionally and personally.

And that’s the goal of 40 Under Forty. Each year for the past 25 years, Hartford Business Journal, with the help of our independent judges, has selected 40 of the best and most promising young professionals who lead their respective organizations.

This year, we received 163 applications. Narrowing the list to 40 deserving winners was a difficult task. Most importantly, our winners prove that our region has a vast pool of young talent.

Our 2021 winners come from the private, public and not-for-profit sectors and organizations large and small.

We would like to thank this year’s judges for helping choose our winners. They understand:

  • Mae Maloney, Senior Program Director, Leadership Greater Hartford
  • Julianna Cruz, Senior Public Relations Specialist, Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare
  • Kim Bishop, Executive Director of Talent Attraction and Retention, MetroHartford Alliance
  • Gail Lebert, Director of Partnership Development, Klingberg Family Centers
  • Meg Warren, Director, Strategic Initiatives, Office of the Dean Instructor, UConn School of Business MBA Program

We will be celebrating our annual 40 Under Forty event on September 16 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in Rentschler Field.

If you think you have what it takes to be part of a future Class 40 Under Forty, we ask that you submit an application next year. This award is as strong as the class of individuals who are nominated for it.

And there are many candidates representing the bright future of our city, region and state.
