The Lancet journals: our new mediator

We are indebted to Professor Malcolm Molyneux, who acted as ombudsman for the Lancet group of journals from 2015, providing expert and authoritative advice during his tenure. After 6 years of service, Malcolm was to retire at the end of 2021. On November 16, 2021, he died following an illness.
We are pleased to announce a new licensee. Since February 18, 2022, the Mediator for the Lancet review group is Sally Marshall, who is Emeritus Professor of Diabetes at Newcastle University’s Institute for Translational and Clinical Research, Newcastle, UK. Previously, Prof Marshall was a Consultant Physician at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Her research interests are in diabetes and the kidney, particularly natural history, genetics and links to cardiovascular disease and hypertension, and she brings considerable experience in medical publishing, having served as editor of diabetes medicine from 2005 to 2009 and editor-in-chief of Diabetology from 2016 to 2020. The responsibilities of the Mediator will extend to all Lancet titles as they are released.

We declare no competing interests.
