These are the authors of Cal Poly Humboldt!

Now in its eighth year, the library’s Humboldt Authors’ Celebration, which showcases the published works of diverse scholarly authors, honors the achievements and expertise of students, faculty (current and emeritus), staff, and alumni.

Cyril Oberlander, dean of the library at Cal Poly Humboldt, had an idea: to showcase the published work of various academic authors. Oberlander’s brainchild, born out of a passion for reading, eventually blossomed into Humboldt’s annual celebration of authors.

Now in its eighth year, this successful event honors the achievements and expertise of university students, faculty (current and emeritus), staff and past authors. The Library estimates that Cal Poly Humboldt authors have published approximately 2,800 creative and scientific works since the event began in 2015.

“The Authors’ Room recognizes outstanding research, scholarship, and creativity that honors the voices of our campus community. We sincerely thank the authors for connecting with readers and ideas for generations to come,” says Oberlander.

The press at Cal Poly Humboldt, formerly known as HSU Press, has been instrumental in supporting and promoting Humboldt authors. Founded in 2015, The Press has helped publish thousands of written works and currently publishes 12 active journals, all free and downloadable online.
